Where your website uses cookies, website users must be given the opportunity to expressly consent to the use of (most) cookies (eg by ticking a box or clicking a link). This can be done by updating your website with a pop-up or message bar asking the users to accept the use of cookies. You must also give people the option to change their minds (ie by providing an opt-out option).
Read Data privacy and cookies for more information.
You should add a link to the Cookie Policy on every page of your website which collects personal information. Ideally, you should make the Cookie Policy available to the users of your website by placing a link in the footer section of every page that users can access.
Note that this Policy is not a contract and does not need to be signed by the website users. As mentioned above, users do, however, need to expressly consent to the use of cookies.
Keep a copy of the Cookie Policy for your records. A copy of the Policy will also be automatically stored in your Rocket Lawyer account ‘Dashboard’.
When the Cookie Policy is amended, keep a copy of each version of it that has been in force, a record of when it was introduced and how and when each version was made available to users of your website.
