Document Defense® Terms of Service
August 15, 2022
Document Defense® is a Service offered by Rocket Lawyer. Document Defense is subject to these Document Defense Terms of Service and the General Terms (together, the “Terms”). The General Terms are incorporated herein by reference. Capitalized terms not defined in these Document Defense Terms of Service have the meanings ascribed to them in the General Terms. If there is any conflict between the General Terms and these Document Defense Terms of Service, these Document Defense Terms of Service will control.
Document Defense helps protect you in the event that a dispute arises with your completed Rocket Lawyer document or payment made using Rocket Wallet. Just contact Rocket Lawyer Customer Support and provide the relevant documentation and we will connect you with either an External Attorney or, in certain jurisdictions where we are authorized to provide legal advice, a Rocket Lawyer Attorney, to review the situation and prepare a response. While a letter can work in many situations, it's up to your attorney to decide the best course of action for your situation.
Engagement with an External Attorney or a Rocket Lawyer Attorney for Document Defense will be limited in scope to the service as described above. Rocket Lawyer does not interfere with the independent judgements of attorneys and legal decisions will be solely determined by the attorney and you in their and your discretion. Although Rocket Lawyer is not a party to the engagement (absent a specific Rocket Lawyer Legal Engagement), you consent to Rocket Lawyer compensating the attorney on your behalf, if applicable. Any payment to Rocket Lawyer for Document Defense is a technology access fee, not a fee for legal services. Additional assistance beyond the scope of service described above (for example, if the matter requires litigation or other steps beyond a written response regarding the dispute) will require a separate engagement with the attorney and you will be solely responsible for any associated fees.
Document Defense is valid for lesser of (1) the length of your uninterrupted paid membership, or (2), as applied to a specific document or Rocket Wallet transaction, (a) one year from the date of purchase of Document Defense for such document, or (b) one year from the date you set up a payment using Rocket Wallet in connection with such document. If you have questions about your dispute, please discuss them directly with your External Attorney or your Rocket Lawyer Attorney, as applicable. Rocket Lawyer is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation other than where authorized and only when a specific Rocket Lawyer Legal Engagement has been entered into.
