How to use Rocket Wallet with a document you upload
After sending out your first payment request with Rocket Wallet, you'll be asked to get verified and add a bank account. Everything happens within the document and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
Getting verified
After sending out your first document, tap the button to "Get verified now." Select whether you're verifying as an individual or company, then enter and submit your information.
Tip: Choose to verify as an individual or company based on where you plan to send the money. If the bank account is in your name, verify as an individual. If it's in your firm's name, verify as a company.
Adding a bank account
After submitting your verification, tap the button to "Add a bank account." (Note: You may have to click the "Actions" button first.) Follow the on-screen instructions through Plaid to select your bank and log in with your online bank credentials. If you have more than one account with the same bank, you will be able to select one specifically. After completing this authentication, you should see a notification confirming that your bank was added.
That's it! Once your bank account is added and your verification approved, you'll be all set to get paid with Rocket Wallet.
The simplest way to decide how to get verified is to think about which name is on the bank account or debit/credit card where you plan to send the money. If the account is in your name, then verify as an individual. If it's in your firm's name, then verify as a company. Either way, it's fast and easy.
In order to receive a payment with Rocket Wallet, you need to get verified. Verification lets everyone know it's really you, so they can transact with confidence. Help keep Rocket Wallet safe and secure by getting verified.
When making or uploading documents with an associated payment request, the email address entered for the lawyer details must match the email address you use to sign in with Rocket Lawyer. If you enter an email address that doesn't match, you will not see the prompt asking you to get verified. To address this, you will need to restart the flow following these steps:
For future payments, using multiple email addresses may continue to impact your ability to get paid, so we recommend that you always use a consistent email address for all your actions on Rocket Lawyer including documents, signatures, payments and sign in.
Using multiple email addresses can impact your ability to get verified and paid, so we recommend always using a consistent email address for all your actions on Rocket Lawyer including documents, signatures, payments and sign in. If desired, you can update your sign in email.
Yes, Rocket Wallet can be used to accept a retainer or to get paid after services are delivered.
When working with a Rocket Lawyer member, your Legal Services Agreement has built-in intelligence to guide you through asking for a retainer or hourly payment. If funds are needed at a later date, simply add a new document, such as an invoice, and set up a payment request for the amount needed. (Note that if you haven't already, you'll first need to activate Rocket Wallet for uploaded documents. See how.)
When working with a non-member, you can start by either making a Legal Services Agreement (follow the steps outlined in the previous paragraph) or by uploading your own document. To start by uploading your own document, follow the instructions above to activate payments for uploaded documents, then set up the initial payment (or not, if no initial payment is required). Then, when you're ready to get paid or if you need to top up the retainer, simply add a new document and make a new payment request.
Some jurisdictions require retainers to be paid into an IOLTA/trust account. If that applies to you, you can learn more about IOLTA/trust account compatibility.
Yes! Beginning with our Early Access Program, we want Rocket Lawyer members to get the legal help they need regardless of the route they take to connect with a lawyer. If you receive a question ("Q&A") in your lawyer Taskboard, you may offer consultations to these members. We still expect that you first answer the member's question, but if their question may be best solved with a consultation, go for it! If the member hires you, make your Legal Services Agreement and get paid with Rocket Wallet.
Currently Rocket Wallet can be used for payments up to $10,000.
As part of our Early Access Program, we are offering you an exclusive limited time offer of 0% fees on any transaction processed through Rocket Wallet. No one offers a better deal, so there's never been a better time to switch.
