Nov. 22, 2024 - The Golden State Warriors have announced Hoops for Troops activations, presented by Rocket Lawyer, for the 2024-25 NBA season, with a variety of events and in-arena recognitions planned to honor United States military service members and veterans at home and abroad. Throughout the year, the Warriors and Rocket Lawyer will partner with local military groups to develop programming that ensures military members, veterans, and their families are supported within the Bay Area community.
Hoops for Troops activations will tip off on Monday, November 25, as the Warriors host the Brooklyn Nets at Chase Center. Hoops for Troops Night will include performances by the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, a game ball rappelling segment with service members from the 131st Rescue Squadron, in-arena recognitions, and a postgame meet-and-greet for veterans and their families with Warriors TV analyst Kelenna Azubuike.
Additional Hoops for Troops activations include a visit to Moffett Field during a drill weekend, where a surprise appearance will take place during a chalk talk aimed to uplift service members by covering topics including resilience and conquering challenges. Later this season, Warriors Basketball Academy will host a basketball clinic and barbecue for active members of the United States Coast Guard that will feature giveaways, a trophy appearance, a surprise appearance, and more.
The Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s NBA G League affiliate team, will host Hoops for Troops programming throughout the month of November. Hoops for Troop Night, presented by Rocket Lawyer, was hosted at Kaiser Permanente Arena on Saturday, November 9, where fans had the opportunity to write thank-you letters to veterans at Veterans Transition Center of California in Monterey County. Later this month, the Santa Cruz Warriors will participate in various Hoops for Troops community events throughout November in collaboration with Veterans Surf Alliance, a local nonprofit geared towards promoting fellowship and community among veterans through surfing in an effort to ease the transition between military service and civilian life.
“Rocket Lawyer is proud to partner with the Warriors to recognize the incredible sacrifices made by our service members and their families,” said Jack Rives, President of Rocket Legal Professional Services and a United States Air Force Veteran. “Through Hoops for Troops, Rocket Lawyer provides resources and support while celebrating those who are serving and have served in the military.”
NBA Cares Hoops for Troops is a year-round initiative led by the NBA, its teams, and players in collaboration with the Department of Defense, USO, and other military and veteran-servicing organizations to honor active and retired service men and women and their families.
