The Landlord's Notice to Enter Premises is intended for use by a landlord/manager of rental units to notify the tenant(s) of his or her intent to enter the property. Usually, the landlord/manager will request to enter the rental unit to inspect the property, make necessary or agreed upon repairs, supply necessary or agreed upon services, or exhibit the rental unit to prospective purchasers, mortgagees, or tenants. The person signing this letter should be the person responsible for the rental unit. It is legal for a landlord/manager to enter a rental unit only for legitimate purposes and provided that the tenant(s) receive reasonable advance notice. A landlord/manager also has the right to enter the property for (a) emergency reasons at any time, even without the tenant's consent, and (b) under circumstances where it is not reasonably possible to give advance notice, for example if the tenant is away for an extended period of time. If the landlord/manager complies with the landlord/tenant laws, the tenant cannot unreasonably refuse to allow the landlord/manager to enter the rental unit. If you have any questions concerning your right to enter the rental units, review the state and/or local landlord/tenant laws or contact a lawyer for assistance. |
